She started life in 1970 as
“Prince of Fundy”, operating the Lion Ferry service between Portland (U.S.A.)
and Yarmouth (Canada). In 1976 was back in Europe to serve one of the classic services
of Lion Ferry: the Varberg - Grena line, performed until 1978. That year she
was chartered by Brittany Ferries, named “Prince of Brittany” and put between
Portsmouth and Saint Malo. She was purchased two years later and renamed in
1989 “Reine Mathilde” for the service Portsmouth - Caen/Ouistreham. From 1991
is owned by International Shipping of Nassau, Bahamas, regularly chartered to
other companies: for two years starting 1991 in a service linking Poole to
Channel Islands, then was laid up until 1994, when she was chartered to
Hellenic Ferries serving the line Brindisi - Greece - Cesme. In 1995 the
charter ended and the ship passed to Comanav, line Sete (France) - Nador
(Morocco). In 1996 she was again chartered to Comanav, but first was in charter
to the pornographic company Private, which gave her the artistname “Private
Lady” and uthilized her as a floating sex-club cruising around the
Mediterranean: at that time some porno movies were shooted onboard, the crew
don’t get paid and at the end of charter the ship was in a state of chaos. Laid
up in Marseille, was again chartered in 2000 to Sancak Line for the line
Brindisi - Cesme. I hope that this service will continue also the following
years because is, for my opinion, the best one from Italy to Turkey.
