Long ago and far away, a few fellows got together and invented a role-playing game. Though it involved both Roll-playing (dice) and Role-playing (assuming a personae), the emphasis was on the Role-playing side. After all, any idiot can roll a pair (or dozen) of dice and get a decent roll now and then, but it takes quite a bit of talent to immerse yourself into another person's character, thinking and reacting as they would. That's why there are a few sillies around Hollywood that make a cool 40 million dollars a picture, while the "average joe" pulls down maybe 40 thousand a year. Nobody said life was fair...

Dungeons and Dragons© was born. There was a slim black book (okay, actually, the VERY first one was white) that was the Players Handbook, and according to my husband, "Dice? We didn't have dice back in those days! We used rocks, and carved the die we needed out of them, and it was good....and then paper was invented, so we could stop making marks on sticks to keep score, and it was even better..."
