An old man who was selling yams yelled, " Outta my way, hot and tasty yams!" Fei ran after the old man while calling his attention, "Ojiisan, Ojiisan!" A woman who was dropping her mail in the mailbox nearby told Fei that the man would not answer if he was called old man. Fei finally got it and called the old man's attention again, "Oniisan, the one who is selling yams!" The old man slowed down and said, "Young my butt, that was the flimsiest flattery I've heard!" Fei chuckled and handed the old man her payment. The old man asked if she could eat that much and told her that she would pass too much bad air. Fei told the old man that she was buying for the other girls. The old man remarked that girls could not buy yams for themselves. While the old man was packing the yams, Fei looked closely to his face. The old man asked grumpily if something was wrong with his face. Fei smiled and said it was nothing. Fei took the yams. Fei went back to her dorm. Shimamura said the yams smelled nice. Reiko had not eaten a yam before and it would be her first time. The girls thanked Fei for the trouble. Fei told them that the old man thought she was going to eat it all. One of the girls apologized. Fei was thinking about the old man's face. Fei thought the old man was very familiar.

Shirei arrived in New York for a conference. The Americans approached Shirei and asked if he was Japanese. Shirei replied, "No, I am Universal Citizen." The Americans showed their salute. After that, all the commanders of different AEGIS Branches gathered. The commander of all AEGIS Commanders, the head of AEGIS NY HQ switched the Universal Translator. Finally they start the Anti-Invader Conference.

The next day, Fei waited for Ojiisan (I'd call the old yam man Ojiisan from now on) to buy yams again. Ojiisan coughed and Fei asked if he was alright. Ojiisan ignored Fei and just handed the yam. "See you tomorrow!" Fei said kindly, but Ojiisan knew nothing of tomorrow. Ojiisan moved on and his car was bumped by a car. The man inside the car blamed Ojiisan. Fei noticed noticed what happened.

Later, Bancho, Ruriko, and Shun were waiting on the spot where the Ojiisan usually passed. Bancho's stomach growled. Ojiisan did not show up and they were all hungry. Reiko said Fei loved the yam so much that she bought it everytime. A woman (same woman) dropped a mail and told them that she saw Ojiisan got run down by a car. The woman continued that a grade schooler with a ball hairdo took Ojiisan home.

Ojiisan lied on his bed with an annoyed look on his face. Fei came inside Ojiisan's small house with the ingredients for the soup. Fei cooked the soup while Ojiisan complained how Fei got herself univited and even cooked soup. Fei warned Ojiisan that being upset does not cure colds. While cooking, Fei noticed that dogs were everywhere in the house. Ojiisan said they were just a bunch of stray dogs gathering in his house. After the soup was cooked, Fei handed it to Ojiisan. Ojiisan finished his soup and grumbled it was disgusting. Fei smiled and noticed a noisy white dog. It was a Spitz, a trendy dog because of its cuteness. Fei remarked that Ojiisan must be a good man because he took good care of all the dogs in his house. Ojiisan hated flattery so he threw crumpled paper to the dogs. Fei said it was mean but Ojiisan just tucked himself in his blanket. Fei noticed a cat walking toward Ojiisan. Fei smiled and was convinced that Ojiisan was kind. Fei needed to go home so she told Ojiisan that she would check on him the next day. Ojiisan said he does not want to eat Fei's junk soup again.

In the Anti-Invader Conference, AEGIS commanders from all over the world discussed about Invader occurrences on highly industrialized countries. Japan was leading on Invader occurrences and Germany was just second place. The head of New York asked for Shirei's side about it. Shirei reported that Invaders are getting critical each time. Invaders had been replacing humans and were greatly increasing in numbers.

Even on a rainy day, Fei continued to visit Ojiisan. A stout woman, Ojiisan's neighbor, asked Fei if she was a relative of Ojiisan. Fei replied it was something like it. The woman complained that Ojiisan made weird noises at night. The woman asked Fei to let Ojiisan know about it. Fei rushed to Ojiisan's house. Fei checked the bed, but he was not there. Then Fei spotted a familiar pair of sunglasses. She took her AEGIS handbook from her pocket and read it. Fei read, "Although unconfirmed, Invaders use their sunglasses to transform." Fei could not take it so she took the sunglasses. As Fei was about throw it away, Ojiisan caught her hand and asked in a deep scary voice, "What are you doing there?!"

AEGIS Operators detected an abnormal wave at coordinates N 505 and E 205. Miss Ochiai informed the Gate Keepers about the Invader wave located in a residential area. Kaoru noticed that was the place where the yam man lives. Reiko was worried that Fei would be in danger. Ruriko who always followed by the rules, told them that they could not make sortie without Shirei's permission. Miss Ochiai would not resist in eliminating the Invaders after what she had experienced. Miss Ochiai took the command and asked the Gate Keepers party to make sortie.

Fei pleaded Ojiisan to hurry and escape. Ojiisan asked why Fei wanted him out of his house. Fei cried Ojiichan and said she would not let them (Gate Keepers) take him away. Fei was not helpless anymore unlike in the past.

Ojiisan felt sorry and realized that Fei was from China. Fei told Ojiisan that he reminded her of her grandfather so she did not want him to be taken away. Fei heard the sound of a nearby vehicle.

The Gate Keepers party had just arrived in the residential area. After walking for a few distance, Fei appeared. Shun asked Fei the location of the Invader. Fei did not answer but instead she stretched her arms and blocked the way. Fei allowed Ojiisan to escape. Ojiisan had no idea but did follow what Fei said after realizing danger. Fei even opened her gate against Shun. Shun just wanted to check the abnormal wave source but Fei would not allow him to budge even a bit. Fei did not believe Shun and said that Ojiisan may be an Invader but he was different. Shun threw his sword down and promised that he would not fight Ojiisan.Shun said he just needed to do some investigating. All of a sudden, Ojiisan's scream was heard. Fei took her gate back and ran to Ojiisan. Ojiisan was quivering and pointed to the Spitz. Fei and the others looked at the Spitz. The Spitz went into a huge pipe. When the Spitz got off the pipe, it was already wearing sunglasses. To the Gate Keepers (and Ojiisan's) surprise — the Spitz turned into a gigantic Cyclops Dog! O_o;; The Spitz started smashing and blowing the residential houses. The occupants ran for their lives and left their properties. Shun and Ruriko attacked Cyclops but it did not even had a scratch. Megane came to the rescue and delivered Gate Robo to them with Miss Ochiai's permission. Shun boarded his robot and took off. Gate Robo jumped to Cyclops but it was too good an evader. Shun could not make the robot get close to Cyclops. Ruriko climbed a roof to cover Shun; Kaoru, and Megumi followed. Cyclops almost got them but Megumi shielded them with her iron wall. Ruriko thanked Megumi. Megumi mumbled that her shield range was too much. Ojiisan ran to his house and blocked it from Cyclops. The stray dogs sided Ojiisan and barked at Cyclops. Fei knew all along that Ojiisan took care of the dogs. Ojiisan hmmphed! Fei. Fei would not let Cyclops kill anybody so she opened her gate. Fei let out an enormous version of her Fire Panda — Fire Dragon! Cyclops was suddenly on fire so Shun took the chance then charged Cyclops with Gate Robo 0's Ultra Vacuum Chop. The poor dog was finally finished!

Kaoru praised Shun for a great job. Megane said it was because of his Gate Robo maintenace. Reiko said it was neither and Ruriko agreed because the credit should go to Fei.

Back to the Conference, commanders agreed to each other their branches had no adequate resources to spare for the Far Eastern Branch. There were 21 existing Gate Keepers, 15 of which belong to AEGIS, and 6 of them belong to the Far East Branch. With these figures, the different commanders thought it was an enough resource for Far Eastern Branch. Not to forget, Far Eastern Branch had destroyed the two Invader executives. The head commander said in the future, Far East Branch will have to use its resources. Shirei could not question the head's final decision. The conference finally ended.

Ojiisan was wearing his sunglasses and pulled his yam cart to work. The cart became lighter when Fei helped Ojiisan by pushing it. Ojiisan told Fei that she would not get anything for helping him. Fei complimented Ojiisan that he looked good with his sunglasses. The reason why Ojiisan wore sunglasses was he was not used on sunlight. In the past, Ojiisan worked in the mines after the war. Fei noticed the picture posted on the cart. The girl in the picture looked a lot like Fei and she also noticed it. Ojiisan told Fei with grump that her daughter was already forty and he did not know her whereabouts. Fei teased, "Oh, Grandpa!" and Ojiisan yelled at her, "Shut up. I'm only 67!" Ojiisan went on with his business and yelled, "Disgustingly awful stoned roasted yams!" Fei followed, "Actually, they are tasty stone roasted yams!" Then they both cheered in chorus, "Hot and tasty stoned roasted yams!"
