GateKeepers 21 a 6-part OVA series, is the sequel to GateKeepers TV Series which has a darker and more serious plot than its predecessor. Some questions left unanswered in the TV series are answered in this sequel. The obvious links from the two series are Reiji Kageyama, Yukino Houjo, Tategami Highschool, and many more.

Story

In 1969, Japan was experiencing rapid economic development. It was a period, when the people of Japan were never satisfied with what they have. Invaders were formed from their never-ending ambitions. Invaders were all over the world but their main focus is Japan, which was progressing at that period. These Invaders have caused many disruptions to Japan, particularly in Tokyo. But thanks to the group of teenagers — the Gate Keepers of AEGIS, Invaders' further disruption was stopped.

After the Invaders' defeat, Japan continued to prosper. Big businesses rose until the eighties (period when Showa period ended, death of Hirohito). Time changed — crime rates have increased, environmental problems have been apparent, and international situation has become unstable. The people's conventional sense of value and moral view have collapsed, the bright future cannot be imagined. Thirty one years passed, since the Invaders defeat, Invaders, the darkside of the human heart, have reappeared.

AEGIS Network (Fareastern branch), an underground and illegal organization, have been working hard for their country's protection. The first member of the 21st Century Gate Keepers is Ayane Isuzu, who works for a mysterious man, and her job is to eliminate Invaders and collect their crystal remnance.

I am certain Isuzu is the child of shun and ruripe. Only thing is she is wearing glasses like Faye. NOT perscription. So that leaves me to think she is not their kid... or perhaps she is somoene elses kid. Her dislike to talk abou ther father... leads back to Shun. Plus the jewel in her hair is like shun's sister. She might be shun's sisters kid...

But certain things lead me to beleive that she is Shun's daughter.

My idea's... Nazo.. the leaderof the japanese branch might be Shadow from old series. If this is true he did not get destroyed in last episode of Old Gatekeepers... he can now use his positive gate and negative gate... but at a heavy cost... IF this is true.

*** - According to Chou Nuriko, this girl holding a glassball is the same Yuurei Shoujo found in the game (though she does not look like her)! She seems to have a past with Yukino...

Well it is confirmed that it's [Ayane - D.] Shun's daughter... but why he left.. I think he probably died. Maybe the same reason she hates him is the reason why he hated his father. perhaps he too broke promises too.

Most likely they might follow the same thing. he died my accident overdoing it. like his dad did.
