Anime Sub menu: [Episode Guide] [GateKeepers Terminologies] [Trivia]

1969 - the setting of GateKeepers, year wherein Japan was in the middle of high economic development. GateKeepers setting began in May 1969 (5th month, 44th Showa).

AEGIS - AEGIS stands for Alien Exterminating Global Intercept System. It is an Earth Defense Organization responsible for the elimination of Invaders. AEGIS has different branches spread all over the world, and each of them has a commander. The main branch is in New York where all commanders from different branches meet. Their logo is half shield and half earth representing Earth Defense.

AEGIS Bus - this land vehicle is for transferring the GateKeepers to their mission location. It has two forms: the red, tourist bus-type and when it transforms it becomes the armored, war-type bus. The armored type is used in special cases when battling against Invaders, however the red type is more oftenly used. The AEGIS bus also carries Gate Engine or the Gate Robot to the GateKeepers. In case of emergency, or when the Gate Robot is needed urgently; an ejector in the bus is used to easily transfer the Gate Robot to the targeted location.

AEGIS Helicopter - this helicopter is usually piloted by Megane for transporting Gate Engine to the location of GateKeepers. This helicopter automatically opens its head so the Gate Engine it carries will function. *Probably*, inside this helicopter is a plug source for the Gate Engine.

AEGIS license - bearing this license proves that you are really a member of AEGIS, and that means, you can act over the law.

AEGIS Reconnaissance helicopters - same as the function of scouting helicopters but they are more used in checking sky traffic.

AEGIS Scouting helicopters - the "eye" of AEGIS in the sky. They either check on sky traffic or strange activities (of Invaders) in the sky.

Akizuki patrol boat - the "eye" of AEGIS in water areas. This patrol boat checks on any strange activity (of Invaders) happening in the sea.

Fukuoka-Type Invader - a type of Invader that replaces a human. A man is lured by a strange sound called the alien frequency. Once lured, an Invader alienates the body. Usually, this type of Invader recalls his true identity. It's called Fukuoka-Type, because Yatsutaka Fukuoka is the first discovered human Invader.

Fusion - combat formation of Invaders, wherein they combine their bodies to form an offensive weapon.

Gate Engine - ultimate weapon of AEGIS, when charged with a gate power, it multiplies its capability to destroy a very powerful enemy. It converts gate power into physical power. Useful for big enemies.

Gate Power Amplifier - GK weapons, Gate Engine and Gate Robots has a gate amplifier. The amplifier's function is to react to a gate power increasing the power's potential.

Gate Robot - the upgraded version of a Gate Engine. Gate Robot is made to add more functions to it that the Gate Engine lacked, example: Flexible Mobility. Gate Robot is definitely more useful than Gate Engine, because it doesn't need to be plugged to a power source.

GateKeeper - a human being that can open a gate from alternate time and space and draw infinite powers from it (that is if that human being has unlimited stamina). The ability to draw such power is another paranormal phenomenon that cannot be explained, although it is possible that emotions contribute to awakening powers.

High level Gatekeepers - more powerful than normal GateKeepers. Yukino's a high level GateKeeper.

Invaders - evil aliens that have hid themselves in the human population. They have long existed in Japan since the end of World War II. They are paracreatures that have existed as a product of never-ending high ambitions of the human race. In other terms, they are the awakened darksides of human beings.

Invader detector - can be in the form of computers installed in AEGIS base, or an accessory in the car's dashboard, or small pens attached to AEGIS officers — any form is possible with AEGIS. It obviously detects strange electrical waves emitted by a nearby or incoming Invader.

Micro amplifier - gate power amplifier found in portable weapons such as Shun's wooden sword.

Red Invader - obviously the red-coated Invader that commands the fusion formation. A red Invader can form an offensive weapon by itself, but to be stronger, fusion with normal Invaders is performed.

Sandstorm - a timely "calamity" that happens in Tategami School grounds. This is a controlled sandstorm operated by AEGIS to hide a secretive activity (ex. a rocket is launched from the underground base - this is only *my* example) from Tategami students.

UP-15 - commonly called as Yotahachi, UP-15 is actually a two-seater Toyota Sports 800 model. It is a pursuit car developed by AEGIS and is selected in consideration with Shun's Gale Gate Ability. It's called UP-15 because it is the car's serial number.

YS-11 - an aircraft that is commonly used in transporting invaluable cargo to AEGIS. In some cases, this aircraft is also used as an air transportation vehicle of GateKeepers. This happens when their mission is outside Japan.
