Anime Sub menu: [Episode Guide] [GateKeepers Terminologies] [Trivia]
- In the anime, it is always mentioned that 1969 is the
44th Showa. Well, Showa period is the era of Hirohito's
reign. It started from 1926 (1st Showa) and ended in 1989
(64th/Last Showa). Historical events can be found in this
link
- Aegis in Greek Mythology is Zeus' shield
- UP-15's Information
- Speaking of UP-15, You're Under Arrest's Miyuki Kobayakawa,
drives the classic Yotahachi.
- YS-11 was the first original Japanese designed aircraft
following the end of WWII. Operations of the type began
in 1965 with various improvements in payload, etc, being
put into place. By 1971, over 160 YS-11 aircraft had been
deliverd to customers including Toa Aiways which was the
first airline to use the YS-11 in 1965. Others are All
Nippon, Austral/ALA, China Airlines, Cruzeiro, Filipinas
Orient, Korean, LANSA, Olumpic, Piedmont, Southwest, Transair,
VASP, Air Afrique, Merpati Nusantara and Mey-Air. These
aircraft have continued in operation well into the 1980s.

- In You're Under Arrest!, Nakajima's 20 year old mother-to-be
drives a Super 7, right? I'm not quite sure if it is a
Lotus Super 7, but heck that's another vehicle seen there.
Anyway, Jim's car is Lotus 7, though Shun presumed that
it was Super 7 because of its speed. For more info on
Lotus click these links: [ Lotus

Details]
- Shirei's car is a Citroen DS Pallas and it has a plate
no. of AEGIS 01. **pic from DS
19 Pallas HP
- Gate Robots were based on F1 cars. The colors were also
based on the national color of the country. UK's color
is green (Jim's Lotus also...), USA's color is blue and
white (Jun's robot is blue and white), and Germany's color
is gray (Misao's robot is gray). Gate Robo 0 is based
on the first color of Honda F1 model. Here's a pic of
a 1968 Honda F1 car:
- Nishiya's car is a 2000 GT-R. Hmm, when it transformed
into an Invader machine, I counted the zeros on the engine,
it read 20000 Invader - ah maybe it was just me! More
info here.
- Shun's weapon code is U-04.
- Ruriko's student number in Class 2A is 11.
- Ruriko loves animals, especially rabbits, in fact she
leads in taking care of the rabbits in Tategami.
- Points N 360, E 015 - the coordinates where Invaders
are detected in Shinjuku
- Points N 505 and E 205 - coordinates of residential
area, where Ojiisan lives.
- Arrow of light in Japanese is Hikari no Ya, Light of
Miracle is Kiseki no Hikari, Vacuum Missile is Shinkuu
Misairu, Kaoru Punch is simply Kaoru Panchi, and Kaoru
Kick is Kaoru Kiiku.
- To those who are good in Physics, this is not a trivia
for you. Jim has two abilities, Hypersonic and Mach 7.
Mach is term given to the ratio of speed of an object
to the speed of sound. Therefore, Mach 7 is seven times
the speed of sound. Hypersonic pertains to speed above
Mach 5. I therefore conclude (ahem) that Hypersonic can
be Mach 7, but Mach 7 cannot always be Hypersonic.
- Bancho is GK candidate B-374.
- Bancho's yell: Gate Oven! is not gate oven, but gate
oyabun, as Harold from the GK mailing list said. I checked
it in the last episode, and I did hear Oyabun. Why the
heck did AXN translate is as Oven?! Oyabun, BTW means
Gang Chief --- same as the meaning of Bancho...
- In ep. 21, TV show hosts are Takehito Koyasu and Etsuko
Kozakura - they are the seiyuus of Bancho and Megane!
That's a good one, GK creators!
- Reiko Asagiri has the largest room in Violet Dormitory,
because she's rich - her parents paid for it! It's good
to hear that at least they still care for their child.
- Reiji's opinion was broadcasted on WHK, could it be
that WHK is a combination of WoWoW and NHK? Hehe, just
an idea...
- Bancho's name means Gang Chief -- and he happens to
be a gang leader of juveniles back in Himeji.
Trivia from D-Scyther:
- Megumi's move - "Hagane no Kabe" means "Wall of Steel"
and Reiko's move - "Genwakuu no Merodii" means "Dazzling
Melody".
- This is a form of a 'Question Trivia':
Ever since Reiji Kageyama appeared, why didn't even anybody
notice his similarity to Shadow, the evil gatekeeper?
His sun glasses already gave him away...
Trivia from Archpaladin_338
/ Joey
- Reiji's adpoted surname, Kageyama, means "Shadow Mountain"
- The name "Ikusawa" literally means "Life" (Iku) "Valley"
(Sawa) but there might be other meanings.
- Megumi's character is an irony---her name means "blessed"
but she is the total opposite of her name...being the
discontented person she is. Her family name Kurogane means
"Black (kuro) Metal (kane/gane)"
Trivia from Storymaster
Q:
- Did you know that there's only 21 confirmed
GateKeepers in the whole wide world? And from that only
15 are in AEGIS and 7 of them are in the Far East Branch!
Whoa!
OK, let's sort them out. We know Shun, Ruriko, Reiko,
Megumi, Kaoru, Fei, Yukino...Then 3 of that outsiders...Jun,
Jim and Misao. That's 10. That means there're 5 more in
AEGIS. If added with that Francine GateKeeper in the game
that would be 11? Also with Reiji makes it 12. That leaves
us with 9 GateKeepers (slots) to use in fanfictions! Oh,
how I love fanfictions!
- Chou
Nuriko's counter argument to Storymaster Q's trivia.
First this 21-GateKeepers-in-the-whole-world setting can
only be applied to the Anime version, so Francine should
not be counted. And no one knows about Yukino until Ukiya
bumped into her in episode 12, so she should not be counted
as well (who would have known there's a 800-year-old GK
in Japan?!) With the usual crowd (Ukiya and company),
the 3 foreigners, Kageyama and Supreme Commander himself
(since the GK1985 is based on the Anime version so it's
okay to add him into the list), there's only 11 GateKeepers...Good
news to fanfic authors then! 10 more GK slots instead
of 9! And yeah, Bancho should not be added because when
this setting was mentioned in the TV series, he was not
a confirmed GateKeeper yet.
Trivia from Chou
Nuriko
- Kageyama has a line which had appeared in 3 different
versions of the GK series: the PS game, GK21 and GK1985.
"Gate is not hope or something like that."
