Ever since she was a child, Kaoru longed to be an Olympian runner. However, though she tried hard, she has never won a single tournament. Desperate to fulfil her dream, she unconsciously opened her gate and drew strength from it, enough to surpass all the others in her running club. The fact that she became way too good this time, however, prompted suspicion and ultimately, her high records were never officially accepted. She abandoned her dream of becoming an Olympian and was going to quit school to work, when Shirei brought her in for tests. However, she didn’t join the Gatekeepers, all until she realized first-hand what the enemies can do. She joined the Gatekeepers and studied at Tategami, declining all offers by sport clubs, to put her job as an Earth Defender first. Though, she generally doesn’t pay much attention to boys, being a bit boyish herself, she took a hard liking to Shun and acts much like his girlfriend. This also involves having somewhat of a friendly competition with Ruriko. Kaoru is also close to Reiko and Fei, who, like her, are newcomers to the Far East branch. |
