Act II, Scenes i & ii
Romeo is off to visit Juliet late at night. Benvolio and Mercutio chase after him but are unable to catch up before Romeo loses them by jumping a very high wall. They call out to Romeo, teasing him about being in love with Rosaline. They do not yet know about Juliet. In the meantime, Romeo is sneaking up to Juliet’s window. When he gets there he hides himself in the trees and listens to Juliet talk about how she’s in love with him. Romeo shows himself and Juliet is embarrassed for having accidentally told him how she feels about him. Romeo then says that he feels the same way towards her and asks that she marry him. Juliet at first says that things are moving too fast for her but changes her mind when she has to leave Romeo for the night. Romeo and Juliet proclaim their love for one another and say they will marry soon.

Act II, Scene iii
Romeo goes to Friar Lawrence to talk to him about marrying Juliet and him. The friar doesn’t like how fast Romeo’s relationship is moving and advises him to slow it down a little. Romeo of course doesn’t listen, and the friar agrees on account that the marriage might prove to do a greater good, that of uniting the warring houses.

Act II, Scene iv
Benvolio and Mercutio are wondering where Romeo went off to when he comes strolling into the scene. Romeo’s in a great mood now and this puzzles both of his friends. He even returns Mercutio’s taunts with matched enthusiasm. Juliet’s nurse then comes into the scene with the purpose to talk to Romeo. Mercutio begins to taunt her and she gets really annoyed and begins to speak like a street person instead of like a lady. Romeo tells her about the plans he made with the friar and she leaves to tell Juliet immediately.

Act II, Scene v
Nurse returns to Juliet, and Juliet pleads with her to tell her what Romeo said. After much procrastination, Nurse tells Juliet about the plans for marriage. Juliet is thrilled.
The friar prays that this marriage not end in sadness or sorrow. Romeo meets Juliet at the Friar’s cell, and they do some more love talk. Then, they go in to get married.
