Act V, Scene i
Romeo’s servant tells Romeo the news of Juliet’s “death”. Being heartbroken at the news, Romeo makes plans to immediately travel back to Verona so that he may die with his love. He then illegally buys a poison from a local apothecary that will kill him instantly once he is at Juliet’s side.

Act V, Scene ii
Friar Lawrence is notified that the messenger he sent to Romeo was not able to get thru to deliver the message about Juliet’s “death” being only temporary. The were detained in a house when they were suspected of carrying the bubonic plague with them and could not even have someone else deliver the message because of fear of contamination. The Friar then makes plans to rescue Juliet from the tomb when she awakes. He thinks that he will just be able to send another message to Romeo later, telling him to come pick up his bride. He does not know of Romeo’s flight to Verona to die at his wife’s side.

Act V, Scene iii
Paris arrives at the tomb to pay homage to Juliet, and he sets his servant to watch for any intruders. Romeo then arrives with his servant, whom he tells to stay outside while he goes to kill himself. Romeo and Paris meet inside and Paris picks a fight with Romeo for having been the cause of Juliet’s grief ad subsequent death. Romeo doesn’t wish to fight him but is forced to when Paris attacks first. Romeo quickly kills Paris, and Paris’s servant runs to get the guard to solve the whole thing. Romeo goes to Juliet’s side and drinks his poison, instantly dieing. Then the Friar arrives, only to find Paris and Romeo dead. Juliet wakes up to find Romeo and Paris dead. The Friar tries to get Juliet to leave this place and join the convent, but before he can do anything, Juliet kills herself with Romeo’s dagger. A noise scares The Friar away. Then, Capulet, Montague, and the Prince arrive to find the two new dead, and another one that they thought was dead the day before, just newly dead. The search the grounds for clues to the puzzle. When they interrogate Romeo’s servant and the Friar, they discover the entire story. Capulet and Montague are touched by the love that Romeo and Juliet had for each other and decide to end the feud once and for all. They make plans to build a monument to their love.
