Richard Pearse
Centenary of Flight
This is the Waitohi Tennis Club's tennis courts and clubrooms. It's located opposite the marker shown in the previous picture. In 1903, Waitohi was quite an active little community, and it had a number of community buildings: a school, a hall, a library, plus tennis clubrooms. The rooms above are built on the site of the original clubrooms. Richard Pearse himself used to be quite an active tennis player. A century later, all those buildings - save the clubrooms - have gone and Waitohi is now really only a place name on a map.
