C47 Skytrain

Um C47 Skytrain, versão militar do DC3 Dakota, da Força Aérea Americana, aterrou em Portugal em 1943, tendo sido internado e integrado na nossa Força Aérea. Este avião fez parte do grupo de 8 aviões que constituíu a primeira frota dos Transportes Aéreos Portugueses, então um departamento militar. Serviu essencialmente para deslocações dos Altos Comandos.
Só em 1953 é que Portugal adquiriu mais 28 destes aviões, que se mantiveram ao serviço até 1976.
