Gust G. Rechtenbach

1858-1916

Gust G. Rechtenbach died at his home three miles northwest of Bridgewater on Sunday morning February 20, 1916; his death was due to cancer of the face. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church at Fontanelle with interment in the Fontanelle cemetery. Mr. Rechtenbach was born March 27, 1858 in Illinois. In the year 1869 coming with his parents A. W. Rechtenbach and wife to Jackson township Adair Co. In 1888 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Augusta Kiesel-nee-Westphal. In 1888 he moved on a farm where he resided until the death angel came and called him to the great beyond.

Mr. Rechtenbach was a member of the German Evangelical church in his younger years but after marriage he united with the German Methodist church of Cass Co., the deceased leaves to mourn, a wife and eight children, two grand children and three step-children. He also leaves four brothers and one sister. He was a faithful Christian, a loving husband and good father; a true friend to his friends and neighbors. This community joins in extending their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family and friends.
