John F. Harris

1855-1912

Mr. Harris, son of Henry and Sarah Harris was born in Henry county, Illinois March 17, 1855. Moved to Poweshiek county, Iowa when eighteen years of age, and to Prussia Township in 1878. He was married to Etta Hepler June 24, 1880. Seven children were born to this union; Mrs. Ida Adams, Mrs. Stella Crowley, Mrs. Eva Paxton, Mrs Nellie Rivenburgh, Pearl, Earl, and Charles, all reside near here.

Mr. Harris lived on a farm in Prussia township (Adair Co) thirty-one years, until his health failed and then moved to Greenfield about three years ago; since then Pearl has farmed the place. He became worse Thursday, the last two days unconscious and died Tuesday, September 10 (1912) at 8:00 a.m., aged 57 years, 5 months and 24 days. He leaves a wife, seven children, two brothers and five sisters. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church.
