PSA EVENTS

Quiz Night
  • Quiz Night usually takes place early in the school year. Sometimes it is combined with a Pot Luck Dinner. Participants gather in the Hall of Peace to play a fun trivia game. It is very informal; participants form teams (give yourselves a catchy name) and answer questions prepared with an international audience in mind.

Fall Barbecue
  • This is an All-School event that is held for AES families during the first month of school, and is usually held the same day as the Info Mela (run by the CLO office). The gymnasium serves as an indoor playground where students can play basketball & ping-pong! There will be games for small children and the pool will be open to the entire family. The PSA provides a delicious meal and solicits parents to donate desserts. There is a charge of Rs.150 per person to participate.

India Night Under The Stars
  • A beautiful evening of dancing and entertainment to celebrate the Diwali season. The High School field is transformed into a sparkling scene complete with flowers, camels and elephants. There is a sumptuous Indian buffet, dancing, entertainment and tens of raffle prizes given away to guests. You can even have your fortune told or get mehndi to accent your wardrobe. We encourage guests to dress in formal Indian attire. Bangles and bindis are given to the ladies. Volunteers are needed to procure sponsors, prize donors, choose a caterer, print tickets, etc. Please let the PSA know if you can help.

Christmas Caroling
  • This is a spirited event for the entire family that gives us the opportunity to wish each other well before the winter break. There is music and songs from several countries to enjoy. We ask that participants bring a dish of finger food to share. The PSA provides delicious hot chocolate.

Annual Flea Market
  • This is held each Spring, and is where kids have fun selling their old games, stuffed animals, books and toys. If parents have items to sell, they should include them with their children’s items for sale and not at a table alone. If you want to sell clothes, we urge you to bring only childrens’ clothes. Furniture, large appliances or livestock is not permitted.

Tables @ Rs.200 must be reserved and paid for in advance; a receipt is issued to the participant, together with 2 passes: one for registrant and one for helper. Set up is between 2-3 p.m. All others (including family/friends of registrant) must pay the 20 Rps. entrance fee.

If you would like to leave behind any unsold items, we will see that they are given to the AWA Thrift Shop to benefit their supported charities. Snacks and drinks are sold by various High School Clubs to raise money for their activities.

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
  • This is held each Spring on an In-Service day when all of the teachers are at school, but no classes are held. Parents are solicited to bring in a dish (savory or sweet) that morning. PSA hosts set up a buffet (veg and non-veg) and the teachers are treated to a wide variety of home cooked specialties from our very diverse community. Parents are also invited to send in any notes of thanks to any one or more of the teachers that will be hand-delivered to that teacher during the luncheon.
