Kastrou's split-level main street. While a defensive, somewhat melancholic atmosphere remains, there are also beautiful corners and views - as well some seriously old-looking chunks of marble lying around. Note the white lines between the slate flagstones: it's a Cycladic custom for each resident to repaint these annually. (Want a closer look?)
