An old thimonia or country house near Vathi, this one an olive-pickers' hut in a multi-terraced olive grove overlooking a creek. It used to be a matter of survival, and remains a point of pride, for each family to produce its own oil. When transport was more difficult, whole families moved to their olive groves in picking season (October to December) and stayed in these simple but beautiful, organic one-room buildings for as long as it took.
