The monastery of Taxiarchis on Vathi Bay. The church of the Archangel Gabriel, the heart of the monastery, sits on a rock shelf to which a small quay has been added to allow fishing boats and summer ferries to tie up. The church is open but unused, except on festival days called panigieri, and the monastery's simple rooms (including the flat-roofed one seen here) can be rented at low rates.
