After a week's delay and one solitary training session, the Mount made their debut as a team. It wasn't quite a shambolic season opening but there's not a great deal positive that can be taken from an average performance. James Spencer, playing his first game in goal,  was under pressure from the off and made three solid saves in a frantic opening. He couldn't keep the score down for long, with gaps in the defence allowing three goals in a four minute period in the first half. The first came from an unmarked player exploiting gaps down the left, while the second was a belter that left Spencer with no chance. The combo of the Charman brothers and Moody did link up well at times but were unlucky as the ball over-ran before a shot could be unleashed, while Ben Howarth put in some solid tackles at the back. At half-time, The Mount were 3-0 down.
Pilcher came on for the second half and things seemed to calm down as he made some good blocks
early on. Ryan was in the thick of things, linked with everything going foward. James Rose worked
tirelessly down the left and lasted the whole 16 minutes, and looked a good player indeed. Spencer did well between the sticks with several more saves to keep the scores down, and a rather uneventful second half  produced no further goals. Not a bad performance by any means - but where were the shots?
Moody - did a solid job down the right

Manager's Comments:
"It was a learning curve. The rules have changed - we didn't realise that keepers can kick the ball freely. The area sizes have also increased massively, which was a huge shock and too often the ball over-ran before we could get a shot off. I think they were there for the taking but it was our first game and we seemed to lack shape and  organisation. What we definitely lack is fitness, both me and Sam were practically begging to come off, although I hope we can work that out in time. With more games we'll get better; I don't  think anyone had a bad game - indeed The Spence was impressive in goal - but I can't remember us having a single shot all game."
