FINAL SCORE: | ||||||||||||
Dynamite.....................4 Tantamount FC..........1 |
||||||||||||
Report by Sam Charman This was a game that had been hyped for weeks, a steadily improving Mount got another chance to face the very first team they had played and only lost 3-0 to. Yet hopes were dashed in the first few minutes when a tired looking defence allowed a Dynamite player to sneak in a shot from the far side of the area and the Mount were a goal down. Within a few moments it was 2-0 as Dynamite were allowed far too much space to play and shoot, probably due to player fatigue from the Sunday Sessions game. At 2-0 down the Mount were at last inspired into a performance, looking more composed on the ball and far more organised at the back, possession led to more attacks and Rose and Olly Howarth had some attempts on goal. Man for man Dynamite were no better than the Mount, they did however have a bit more physicality in the tackle and were more comfortable in possession. By contrast the Mount seemed to rush their touches and find less space then they could have and by half time it was 2-0. |

The Mount came out for the second half fired up, and instantly looked a different side, Spencer was getting about his area and finding long rolls to Moody, O. Howarth and Charman, in what had become a very attacking line up. Again however, rushed touches in possession wasted the good ball they had until one moment of individual brilliance from Charman created a chance. Spencer played a great roll out with pace down the right to Charman, who with one touch nutmegged the defender and passed it to Olly Howarth, who finished first time into the top of the net to make the score 4-1. A touch of pride was restored with the goal, but the Mount will look on this as a potential opportunity wasted and must work harder for their elusive first points. | ||||||||||||

Manager's Comments: | ||||||||||||
"Judging from Dynamite's performance on the opening day and our improvement over the weeks since then, we were hoping we could get a result. Initially we held them off but their first came from an acute angle and after that we all over the place. We didn't defend and we didn't attack, we were in a bit of a limbo. We attacked with greater purpose in the second half but, just like at Modbury, we allowed the opposition too much space. We perhaps need to be more rigid in terms of formation, against Wheatsheaf we looked sorted and restricted them for long periods. On the plus side, Olly came in and again got a goal, that's 2 in 2 games and that's a bonus for us. He's an excellent player and having a player of his quality can only help the team confidence-wise. For the team as a whole, we played well in fits and starts but just need to keep our shape. Our passing was better today, we strung some passes together and moved about well to create options. I think Modders did very well down the left in the second half and, if he's comfortable there, he's someone else we can consider for that position. It's all coming together - gradually." |
