Dynamite.....................1 Tantamount FC..........0 |

Report by Michael Pilcher Dynamite are part of the group of teams that The Mount believe they can take points from. Some of the previous results between the teams haven’t been particularly close but, performance wise the teams have been fairly well matched, with Dynamite’s experience giving them that slight edge. Anyone watching the game would have struggled to tell which side were the experienced team of five seasons and which team were the newcomers in their first season. The Mount looked composed at the back, Jacobs marshalling the left flank and Pilcher putting in tackles in his usual sweeper role. Ollie was charging down the right, attacking and defending in equally good measure. Charman, playing up front, was unlucky with a shot on five minutes that came back off the post. Dynamite had been restricted to a few shots that Spencer was more than equal to. At half-time it was 0-0, and the Mount were looking good for a point. |

In the second half things carried on as normal, with Rose and Howarth carrying on the solid work of the first half, and a hungover Modders leading the line with a customarily assured performance. Howarth particularly was having a great game, one of his best in a Mount shirt, which was why the part he inadvertently played in the only goal of the game was so cruel. A long shot from distance struck Howarth just in front of the area, sending the ball in the opposite direction. The team watched as Spencer just couldn’t adjust himself in time to stop the ball going in.
The Mount had four minutes left to get an equaliser but couldn’t pull one back. In the end, an unfortunate deflection denied the team a much deserved point. |

"It was a great performance. We were playing well as a team in the first half and the players who came on at half-time played just as well. Usually when we’ve got to 0-0 at the interval we’re hoping rather than expecting to get something, but I think we started to believe in ourselves in this game.
The goal was harsh; you can’t legislate for something like that. As a defender, with shots flying at you left, right and centre you’ve just got to get something on it and on this occasion the deflection helped it swerve awkwardly beyond James’ reach. It was a wicked deflection and I feel for Ben, it’s awful to see those go in. I had one of those in my AFC days and the feeling of helplessness and sheer horror isn’t a nice one." |
