FINAL SCORE: | ||||||||||
Dynamite.....................1 Tantamount FC..........1 |
||||||||||
There's no rest for the wicked - Steve's supreme scheduling saw the Mount play back-to-back games yet again. In the ref's defence, it may actually have worked in Tantamount's favour as a side still on a high from the Sharks game battled to a well-earned and much-deserved draw against Dynamite. Modders was the hub of things from the Mount's point of view, with Noakes controlling the backline and Sam and Alex involved going forward. There was some fine passing moves, with some great link-up play, and defensively Noakes in the centre and Spence in goal were on top form. Dynamite took the lead against the run of play with a thunderbolt. Spence, with no-one in space to pass to, rolled the ball straight down the centre hoping a team-mate would latch onto it. Unfortunately a Dynamite player was there first and he sent an immediate shot into the bottom corner with Spence unable to recover. Their lead didn't last long. Subsititutes Martin and Dave, who seem to have a telepathic understanding, combined yet again, this time Martin's pass finding Dave out on the right and he hit a great shot across the keeper and into the net. Three goals for the day for Dave; all three of those goals set-up by Martin. |

Spence redeemed himself for his earlier roll-out error with a second half clean sheet. Dynamite had chances but Spence was equal to all of them, as he pulled off at least half a dozen vital saves. There was one nervy moment towards the end. A shot from just inside the Tanta half struck Pilch on the hand and with Spence beaten, the ball trickled goalwards. Luckily, as both sides looked on (Pilch in absolute horror), it came back off the post. Only then did Steve blow for a Dynamite free-kick for the handball, which was expertly defended by the Mount. Indeed defensively the Mount looked sound with all outfielders making vital challenges, with Pilch, Noakes and Dave leading the block count. The Mount also had their chances - Modders hit one from distance which came closer to ceiling then goal, Sam had an effort charged down, Martin hit one just across the face of goal and Pilch played in Alex for a one-on-one, only for his shot to be well saved. When the whistle blew, the Mount were happy with the point - hopefully, it's something the lads can build on. It was also, Sam pointed out, the first point earned - either by AFC Maidstone or Tantas - without Ryan. |
