FBU..................................4 Tantamount FC........... .1 |

The Mount fell behind in this game to an absolute pearler of a goal. An FBU player rocketed home an opener that flew in, Spence admitting afterwards he didn't even see it.
It was a blow after a fairly solid start but it was soon quashed, with the Mount equalising after a fine passing move. Alex was the provider, playing a slide-rule pass for Ollie to smash home his third goal at Mote Park into the bottom corner. Parity didn't last long though with FBU regaining the lead, their unmarked striker stabbed at a rebound in mid-air and watched it elude Spencer. The Mount could have equalised again with a Modders shot from distance whose shot unluckily struck the base of the post. Alex also went close, hitting a couple of efforts wide. |

The Mount pressed for a goal after the interval but were thwarted by a defence which gave them little time or space on the ball. This left them vulnerable to the counter attack, and several times the long roll-outs from the FBU keeper created chances. FBU's third goal killed the game and again the Mount must acknowledge it was another beauty, a powerful shot from the right giving Spence absolutely no chance. The fourth was yet again a well placed shot from distance, what it lacked in power made up by what it had in precision placement.
This was an improvement on the day's earlier game, with the Mount playing with more fluidity and keeping possession. In the end, it was three rather special goals and one lucky one which gave FBU a winning scoreline that wasn't really merited. |
