Rob Hewett...................4 Tantamount FC............0 |

After last week's excitement (Tantamount's first ever win, in case you hadn't heard) the Mount were brought back down with an almighty bump as they were outwitted, outsmarted and just generally outclassed by a clinical Rob Hewett. Hewett - or Modbury as they used to be known - were a matter of points away from promotion last season; this season, they have found the going much tougher, residing as they do in 5th place at the half-way stage. They seem to have some sort of a hold over the Mount though and knew it, racing into a 3-0 first-half lead. The first was a peach that found it's way past Spence's left-hand post, the second a placed shot that went through Spence's legs and the third a well-struck effort following some poor Mount passing. Debutant Martin Brockman came on at half-time and the decathlete showed his fitness with some tireless running. He had the Mount's best chance, receiving a Ryan pass on the right before unleashing a shot across the keeper which came back off the inside of the post. Ryan also went close on a couple of occassions, with one effort bringing a fine diving save from the Hewett keeper. |

RH scored a fourth in the second half, after some slack defending allowed a Hewett striker to place a shot past the Spence. Without the efforts of the Mount keeper the score could easily have been double, as he produced a handful of smart saves, whilst one late shot came crashing back off the post. Tonight's performance was lacking with something of a hangover lingering after last week's win. Hardley and the Mount meet again next week, and the Tanta's will have to play a lot better than this if they are to repeat that monumental victory. |
