FINAL SCORE: | ||||||||||
Prospects......................6 Tantamount FC........... .2 |
||||||||||
For the first time since Tantamount FC entered the wonderful world of 5-a-side football, they entered into a game without any subs. Alex's late withdrawal and Ryan & Dave B's return to Uni meant the Mount were short on players. (The situtation looks set to get worse next week, with both Pilch and Bondy unavailable).
It didn't take long for Prospects to open the scoring, the Mount not taking notice of a couple of early scares and allowing them space to get the first. Prospects were 3-0 up at half-time, with the Mount's best chances being from Modders and Ollie, who both tested the keeper, and Bondy who dragged an effort wide of goal. After seemingly raising their game for the second half, the Mount pulled it back to 3-2 with two goals in quick succession. Firstly Spence played a quick roll-out down the centre to Ollie who took it past the defender before firing past a static keeper. A minute later, Spence was again involved as he played the ball out to Bondy. Bondy looked up and played a great crossfield ball up the pitch to Modders who ran onto the pass and sidefooted home for his first Mote Park goal. They were right back in it, and a series of saves from James instilled a little more belief. |

The fresh legs of the Prospects substitutes eventually saw them to victory as they put the game beyond the Mount's reach with three goals in a 3 minute spell. Their fifth was a fine finish across Spence and into the top corner, although the Tanta's won't be happy with the poor marking. The sixth was especially fortuitious, taking a wicked deflection off Pilch's back to wrong foot Spencer, but it about summed up the Mount's day. A valiant effort with no subs but untimately Tantamount were well beaten by a side with more options. | ||||||||||
