FINAL SCORE: | ||||||||||
Team Blade....................10 Tantamount FC........... ....1 |

The Mount showed great promise in the early part of this game, which makes the final score all the more surprising. It was 0-0 for some time, with Pilch making a couple of solid blocks and cutting out some Blade attacks. Bondy was also keeping Team Blade at bay, whilst Modders and Ollie kept things ticking up front. Both sides had half chances, although Blade's controlled passing saw them keep possession for longer periods. It was in the fifth minute that Blade took the lead, and they unexpectedly added two more before half-time. It was 3-0 at the interval, but few would have expected what was to follow in the second half. |

Seven goals were fired in by Team Blade as they continuously sliced through the Mount's backline. With the score at 7-0, Modders got his second goal of the day as he half-volleyed in a rebound after a Ollie shot was saved. It was probably inside the area, but the referee showed leniancy and allowed the goal. Team Blade's eighth was a penalty, conceded after Bondy stepped in the area. Then as the Tanta's thought things couldn't get any worse, their opponents notched two further goals and entered into double figures.
A poor performance all-round and one the Tanta's will be all too keen to wipe from their memories. Tantamount can look to the fact they played with no subs as an excuse, but in all honesty they really shouldn't have let their heads go down so early, and should have done more to protect Spence. It should perhaps be noted Team Blade have years of Mote Park experience - they were playing back in the infamous Attwood-AFC Maidstone days (click here for a match report from the 2000 or 2001 meeting).. |
