FINAL SCORE:
Wheatsheaf..................2
Tantamount FC........... .0
Wheatsheaf have been held by the Mount in the past and nearly were again. The line-up for the day saw founding members Sam and Ben both returning, the latter for the first time since the opening day.

Ben started alongside Dave B and Pilch and the defensive trio performed solidly in holding off a Wheatsheaf side which included a couple of First Division ringers. Tackles and blocks flew in, whilst Modders was his ever-energetic self up front, linking up well with Dave on several occasions. They were looking good for a goalless first half but, with the half-time whistle imminent, a powerful first-half shot from Steven Humphrey (who also plays for First Division champions FCUK) left the Spence with no chance. Up to that point the clearly dazed and still half-asleep keeper had been busy making a series of saves, and had been equal to everything thrown at him.

The Mount were playing well against 3rd-placed Wheatsheaf, and Sammy C put in an energetic performance, running the right like a man possessed and putting in some superb sliding tackles. Ollie commanded the centre and drove the team forward whilst Ryan was busy trying to break down the opposition defence. Modders moved out to the left and made a number of runs, yet the Tanta's hadn't managed to carve out any meaningul openings.
Alas they fell further behind after a mistake from an attacking position. Winning a free-kick just outside the area, Sam played it behind Ollie and he lost the ball on half-way. The Wheatsheaf striker was one-on-one with Spence and the Mount keeper opted to stay on his line rather than narrow the angle, leaving his opponent to pick his spot and double the lead.

Ryan looked to have pulled a goal back but his powerful shot came back off the inside of the post. Dave too went agonisingly close with a superb half-volley from the left, this time the shot hitting the side-netting.

A fine performance all-round and, on another day, the Mount could comfortably have secured a draw.
Ben - a fine defensive performance from the returning maestro
