FINAL SCORE:
Wheatsheaf..................2
Tantamount FC............1
As the season came to a close the Mount were presented with some welcome pre-game news for their final tie: Wheatsheaf had just one of their regular players, and the remainder of the squad was filled with ringers. An experienced Mount team took on a young team with little 5-a-side experience. The scoreline will therefore make grim reading for the players and fans of the Tanta's; a better opportunity to pick up a win against Wheatsheaf may never again present itself.

Ollie played the opening few minutes in goal with Spence arriving late. As the Spence put on the gloves four minutes in, he was unaware that the Mount had already taken the lead. Tantamount had taken the game to Wheatsheaf, passing the ball around nicely and moving forward, and were rewarded with a goal. Ryan had a powerful shot saved, but the rebound fell for Martin who beat the defender to the ball and stabbed home for his second goal of the campaign. They could have added to this lead, with Pilch firing wide, Jimbo having a couple blocked and Ryan and Martin both going close.

Wheatsheaf had opportunities but were largely restricted to long-range efforts with the Mount defending well. Those that found a way through were comfortably dealt with by JS. They did manage to squeeze in an equaliser before half-time, the striker taking the ball out on the wing, turning Jimbo before firing a shot that went through Spence's legs. It was the same striker who scored in two of the previous meetings between the teams, including the last one.
Alex and Ollie came on at half-time and the Mount continued to press, linking up nicely and working the ball into the right areas. They found the opposition keeper in good form, making decent saves as the shots came in, but he was fortunate to see a couple fly just wide of goal.

With the Mount committing men forward, Wheatsheaf took a 2-1 lead against the run of play. In a swift counter-attacking move, they played the ball quickly and a pass just in front of the box wasn't cut out and the striker took a touch before placing the ball across Spence and into the bottom corner.

Determined to get something out of the game, Ollie and Martin fired over, Ryan had several efforts whilst Pilch had a couple of shots saved as the Mount searched for an equaliser that never came. When the whistle blew and a ball kicked on the LLC pitch for the final time before demolition, the Mount trudged off realising that they could - and should - have done a whole lot better.
