Letter of Instructions No. 1009

 

 

TO       :       The Minister of Transportation & Communications

The Chairman, Commission on Audit

The Director, Bureau of Land Transportation

All National and Local Officials Concerned


WHEREAS, the worsening energy crisis necessitates that the government intensifies its energy conservation drive;

 

WHEREAS, it is imperative for the government to devise ways and means to encourage motor vehicle owners who desire to stop the operation or use thereof, to place them on storage.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution, do hereby order and issue the following instructions:

 

(1)      That all owners of privately owned motor vehicles and all others besides for hire vehicles who desire to stop operating or using their motor vehicles shall surrender their number plates and registration certificates to any of the field agencies of the Bureau of Land Transportation nearest the residence of the owners, not later than June 30, 1980 for the current year only.

 

(2)      That the field agency of the Bureau of Land Transportation shall collect the amount of Fifteen (P 15.00) Pesos, and shall issue the official receipt showing such payment, and a storage receipt for both the number plates and the registration certificate.

 

(3)      That the registration fees and/or energy tax, under the circumstance mentioned herein, shall not be collected, except when the motor vehicle owner is delinquent in its previous obligations.

 

(4)      This instruction shall take effect immediately.


Done in the City of Manila, this 17th day of April, in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty.
