Letter of Instructions No. 906

TO       :       The Minister of Energy

The Minister of the Budget

The Treasurer of the Philippines

To afford the country with maximum safety against the dangers of a possible nuclear contamination, there is a necessity to conduct a formal inquiry and/or investigation into the dangers, if any, that may arise from the existence and operation of the proposed nuclear plant in the country.  To this end a Nuclear Power Plant Commission was constituted under Executive Order No. 539 to conduct said inquiry.  It is estimated that P 215,000 would be required to support the operations of said commission.

In view thereof, the Treasurer of the Philippines is hereby directed to release to the Ministry of Energy P 215,000 out of the Special Fund created pursuant to Section 8 (j) of R.A. 6173, as amended, to cover the foregoing expenses.

The Ministry of Energy shall submit a report to the President accounting for the disbursement and utilization of the foregoing funds.

This Letter of Instructions shall take effect immediately.
