Proclamation No. 739
ESTABLISHING RESERVATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE EXPLORATION, DEVELOPMENT, EXPLOITATION AND UTILIZATION OF GEOTHERMAL ENERGY, NATURAL GAS AND METHANE GAS, A PARCEL OF LAND IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBAY, ISLAND OF LUZON, PHILIPPINES
WHEREAS, under Republic Act No. 5092, the Government reserves the right to undertake the exploration for tapping or utilization of geothermal energy, natural gas or methane gas either by itself or thru its instrumentalities, or thru competent persons qualified to undertake such work as independent contractor or contractors;
WHEREAS, the Volcanology Commission, in cooperation with the Bureau of Mines and National Science Development Board, has been and is still conducting an experimental project for the utilization of geothermal energy in an area in the Municipality of Tiwi, Province of Albay: and
WHEREAS, it is to the interest of the State that the land covered by the experimental project and the surrounding areas be reserved for this purpose:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, FERDINAND E. MARCOS, President of the Philippines, upon recommendation of the Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources and to implement the provisions of Section 5, Republic Act No. 5092, hereby set apart as reservation under the administration of the National Power Corporation for the purpose of developing, exploiting and utilizing geothermal energy, a parcel of land in the Municipalities of Malinao and Tiwi, Province of Albay, Island of Luzon, Philippines, more particularly described and bounded, as follows:
Beginning at point “1” whose geographic position is 13°-20’-00” latitude and 123°-35’-00” longitude, located at the Municipality of Tiwi, Province of Albay:
Thence, due east to point “2” whose geographic position is 13°-30’-00” latitude and 123°-42’-35” longitude:
Thence, due south, to point “3: whose geographic position is 13°-23’-00” latitude and 123°-35’-00” longitude:
Thence, due north, to point “1”, which is the point beginning, containing an approximate area of Seventeen Thousand Six Hundred Sixty-One (17,661) Hectares.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the Republic of the Philippines to be affixed.
