The AFJROTC Curriculum:
The success and growth of the AFJROTC program lies in the progressive and academically sound curriculum. Each year's Aerospace Science course work relates to a different theme.
Aerospace Science I: Frontiers in Aviation History emphasizes the history of air power and national defense.
Aerospace Science II: The Science of Flight acquaints the student with the aerospace environment, the human requirements of flight, and the principles of aircraft flight and navigation.
Aerospace Science III: The Exploration of Space examines our solar system, explores current space technologies and contemplates the future of space and manned space flights.
Aerospace Science IV presents three choices:
- Option 1
- Management of the Cadet Corps
- Option 2
- Aviation Fundamentals
- Option 3
- Laboratory Manual
- Geography, Survival
- Policy & Organization, Career Series.
The AFJROTC curriculum is constantly revised and updated. In 1991, the Ground School course was implemented and offered in only 20 schools and was reserved for honor students. It has now grown to include over 125 schools. The course superbly prepares cadets to take the Federal Aviation Administration's written examination.
In 1991, a laboratory manual, The Exploration of Space, was added to the Aerospace Science III course. This manual was such an effective addition to the course that many cadets now taking this course receive science credit for these courses instead of just an elective credit.
