Hi,
Please make sure that this information is
distributed to those on your email list. You can insure that everyone is
informed of this historic event. You can call the Patriotic Hall at (213)
744 4828 for referral to local hotels.
The date for this Free to the Public, "once in a
lifetime event" is July 26 at Patriotic Hall in Los Angeles (just South of the
Santa Monica Fwy and just East of the Harbor Fwy near Downtown Los Angeles) with
Free Parking to the rear of the building. Space is limited to 600 in
the auditorium so get there early. Displays at 9 to 10AM, with the Premier
of the Film beginning the program ":Liberation of the Philippines", followed by
two Keynote Speeches by Lester Tennery and Edwin Ramsey. A panel
discussion of those featured in the film will follow.
I hope you will be able to join us at the Salute to
the United States Armed Forces of the Far East. The Navy, Marine and
Air Corp all served with their Filipino counterparts as part of MacArthur's U.S.
Armed Forces of the Far East from July 26, 1941.... in their fight against
Japanese invaders.
That they held out until April (Bataan) and May
(Corregidor) is one of the miracle military actions of World War II. The
time for the buildup and intelligence preparations for the Battle of Coral Sea
and Midway would not have been available if not for MacArthur's courageous
U.S. and Filipino forces that made up the United States Armed Forces of the Far
East.
What was not mentioned in the Flyer is that the
California Military History Educational Project will Premiere an
original film "Liberation of the
Philippines", which was created specifically for this event.
Featuring oral histories and first hand accounts.... the story of survival,
heroism and honor .... is a story everyone should see. Copies of the video
will be available for purchase.
