Here's the actual message in the letter from his son.
Dear Papa,
Kamusta napo kayo? Padala ko po sa inyo itong picture
ko noong graduation sa kinder I. Nasa kinder II na po ako
ngayon at sa susunod na pasukan, Grade I na po ako.
Malapit na po ulit ang Pasko. Sana maka-uwi napo kayo.
Gift ko po sayo ngayong Christmas ay maging good boy ako.
Mag-aaral po akong mabuti para maging mataas ang grades
ko para matupad ang dream kong maging engineer paglaki.
Pray po kami ni Mama kay Jesus na bless ka niya para
di ka tamaan ng kalaban. At saka po matapos na ang gyera para may
kapayapaan sa mundo. At saka para po lagi kanamin kasama
at hindi kana aalis sa malayo.

English interpretation :
Dear Papa,
How are you? I send you my graduation picture in Kinder I.
I'm already in Kinder II & next school year, I'll be
in Grade I.
Christmas is near. I hope you come home. My gift to you
this Christmas is to be a good boy. I'll study hard to
fulfill my dream to become an engineer.
Mama & I always pray to Jesus that he will
bless you so that you'll not be hit by the enemy.
I also hope the war would end so there will be
peace in the whole world. And also that you'll be
staying with us always & you'll not be going
far away again.
