I couldn`t believe it! The first thing I did was call Taichi. “I made it I really made it!” I told him trying to keep myself from screeching. “Really? That`s great Sora!” Taichi said. “ I know, thanks! I have to go to dinner now. But I just wanted to let you know. I`ll see you at practice tomorrow okay?” I said, now calm. “Okay Sora, see ya then.” I hung up the phone. I had made the BOYS soccer team! I would get to finally be on Taichi`s team! This would be great! We had always wanted to be on the same team and now we were! I couldn`t wait till tomorrow. ~ Taichi- “We have a new addition to our team today.” Our coach told us, “Guys, this is Sora.” Mumbles and groans were heard threw out the field, no one else wanted a girl on the team. “Now none of that. Let`s get on with practice!”Coach Lellick said. As soon as the coach finished talking Sora ran over to me. “Well, that was nerve wrecking,” she whispered. I nodded but I wasn`t worried. Once the guys saw how good Sora was they`d be glad to have her on the team. Not to mention how nice she was. And pretty. And smart. I smiled. Soon they`d be jealous she was my best friend. ~ Sora-Practice didn`t go as smoothly as I thought it would. We had been practicing passes when I guy named Gerry nailed me in the head with a ball. “You did that on purpose!” Taichi yelled in outrage. I told him to let it go. There was no point in picking a fight with the team captain. Gerry walked up to me after pratice. “There`s no place for a girl on this team!` He said as he hit his palm with his fist. I couldn`t believe it! He was actually going to fight me! What had I done to him!? “Hey Sora let`s go!” Taichi yelled as he came to the spot where I was standing. Phew! As Taichi walked closer Gerry started to walk away! Right when he passed me I heard him whisper, “ Next time you won`t be so lucky. Your nothing without your precious Taichi!” Taichi stared at Gerry as he walked away. “What`s wrong with him?” He asked. “He wanted to apologize..” I lied. I knew if I told Taichi the truth he would get in a fight with him and he didn`t need that. “We then let`s go!” he said. ~ Taichi- For the next few practices Gerry`s little “accidents” continued. I guessed he was just trying to keep up his tough guy routine for his friends. Sora had told me he apologized, so I was sure he apologized. We were having our last soccer practice before our first game. Almost all the guys seemed to have realized Sora was a great player and she would help our team a lot. All except Gerry and his little gang of course. Once Sora showed them how good she was on the field they would totally leave her alone. I looked down at my watch. It was time to go. I went in search of Sora. She wasn`t any where on the field. Well that was reasonable. It was raining. She was probably waiting inside the gym for me. I walked into the gym and slowly opened the door. I heard a soft yelp of pain. I looked slowly threw the window to see Gerry and his gang in a tight circle. “I told you I`d get you. The soccer field is no place for a girl. What are you gonna do now that your precious Taichi isn`t here to save you! Oh? Are you gonna cry?” I looked into the circle to see Sora kneeling on the floor clutching her stomach. :::They had kicked her in the stomach-Author::: Gerry kicked Sora one last time,sending her sliding rcoos the floor, and then left out the back way. I ran up to Sora. “What happened? You told me he apologized! I`ll get him for this!” She looked up at me, still clutching her stomach. “I`m sorry Taichi, I lied. Gerry didn`t apologize, he told me there was no place for me on the team.” Suddenly Sora stopped talking and burst out crying. She threw her arms around me and continued sobbing. “It`ll be okay Sora, I`ll tell the coach right now!” I said softly. She looked up, wiping her eyes. “We can`t Taichi,” she said, “If we do everyone will hate me for getting our best player kicked off. I`m sure he`ll get better.” I nodded, she was right. Okay but if he doesn`t lay off after the game I`m telling the coach, he`s gonna get it!” Sora smiled. Wow, she has a pretty smile… ~ Taichi-“And Takenouchi steals the ball! She`s showing up all the guys today!” and it was true. Sora was doing great! I could here Mimi cheering as Sora ran down the field and shot yet another goal. Gerry was turning a lovely shade of red. At last the spotlight was on Sora, not him. “Gerry sub! Taichi out!” the coach yelled.I sat down on the bench and took a drink of water. I looked out to the field to see Sora running with the ball. Gerry ran beside her, ready for the pass. I smiled. She had been right, as always. Suddenly Gerry made a quick movement. He knocked Sora`s legs from under her and then pushed her sideways. She hit the ground and slid a few inches. I jumped out on to the field and ran up to her., shoving away anyone who tried to stop me. Sora`s leg was bleeding bad. “Sora!” I yelled. She looked dizzily down at her leg. “Wow! I didn`t know it could bend that way!” she said as her eyes slowly closed. I almost screamed in anger.Gerry was going to get it now. Outraged, I ran up to Gerry and showed him exactly how I felt. ~ Sora- I woke up to see a white ceiling above my head.That was odd, what happened to the blue sky? “Mimi..” I said weakly, seeing my friend sitting near by. “It`s about time Sora! I guess you hit your head pretty bad!” I rubbed my head and started to remember what had happened. “Gerry..” I growled.That jerk! He had pushed me! Mimi giggled, “ You don`t have to worry about him! Taichi banged him up worse than you! You know he`s a great friend. Your lucky!” “I know,” I replied with a smile. Taichi was a great friend. Cute. Funny. Nice. My anger slipped away as I imagened Taichi beating up Gerry for me.“Well I`m going to go tell everyone your up!” Mimi said before she rushed out the door. Though out the day most my friends came to visit me, all execpt Taichi. I wondered if he would come to see me today. I hoped so…. ~ Taichi-As soon as I heard Sora was awake I ran to the hospital. I needed to talk to her. She had been asleep for two days, having hit her head pretty bad when she fell and I had a lot of time to think. Over those two days I had realized how much Sora meant to me. I guess it true, “You never know what you have until you lose it.” Well I thought I had lost Sora and I was going to make sure that didn't happen again. I hurried up the stairs to Sora`s room. Hoping she was awake. I opened the door slowly incase she was resting. “Mimi?”she asked. “No, it`s Taichi,” I told her. “Taichi, hello!” she said with a smile as I walked up to her. The room was dim and gloomy but her smile brightened up even the darkest room. “I`m glad you came! I heard you got Gerry pretty good!” she laughed. Anything for you I thought. “Of course! That jerk disserved it!” I replied. She looked up at me and began to cry softly and before I knew it I was holding her. “Taichi, thank you, thank you so much, you`ve been such a good friend,” she said as she cried on my shoulder. What happened next was surely fate. “I love you, Sora” I whispered so low I could barley hear myself. I hadn`t meant for her to hear it but by some weird twist of fate she did. She hugged me closer and our lips met. “I love you too Taichi.” She whispered. We sat there for a long time just holding each other in silence. As I sat there wishing that moment would never end I thought one thing, I`m going to have to thank Gerry sometime… ew...that had to be the worst fic i ever wrote..sorry for even posting it |
