Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

KILLING WITH WORDS
~~~ out of envy and jealousy ~~~
My Name Is Gossip.
   I have no respect for justice.
      I maim without killing.
         I break hearts and ruin lives
            I am cunning and malicious
		and gather strength with age.
The more I am quoted
   the more I am believed.
      I flourish at every level of society.
My victims are helpless.
   They cannot protect themselves
      against me because
         I have no name and no face.
To
      track
               me
                     down
                             is
                                 impossible
                                                 The
                                      harder
                                you
                           try,
                       the
                more
        elusive
I   become.
I am
    nobody's
friend.
                        Once I tarnish a reputation,
                    it is never the same.
                I topple governments
            and ruin marriages.
        I ruin careers and
    cause sleepless nights,
heartache and indigestion.
I spawn suspicion
   and generate grief.
      I make innocent people
         cry in their pillows.
            Even my name hisses.
I AM
CALLED
GOSSIP.
Office gossip.
Shop gossip.
Party gossip.
Telephone gossip.
Online gossip.
I make headlines and headaches.
Before
          you
              repeat
         a
story
         ask
              yourself...
IS IT TRUE?
IS IT FAIR?
IS IT NECESSARY?
My Heart Leaps Up
My heart leaps up when I behold
A rainbow in the sky:
So it was when my life began;
So is now I am a man:
So be it when I shall grow old,
Or let me die!
The Child is father of the Man;
And I could wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety.
An excerpt from, All Quiet on the Western Front
"To no man does the earth mean so much as to the soldier. When he presses himself down upon her long and powerfully, when he buries his face and his limbs deep in her from the fear of death by shell-fire, then she is his only friend, his brother, his mother; she shelters him and releases him for ten seconds to live, to run, ten seconds of life; receive him again and often forever."
Think Of Those Who Love You
If someone should hurt you
And say a thing unkind
Remember what I write to you
And keep these thoughts in mind
For everyone that makes you cry
There are three to make you smile
And a smile will last for a long long time
But a tear just a little while
Don't let someone who hates the world
Cause you to hate it too
Behind the clouds is a golden sun
And a sky that's full of blue
If someone said a things that's cruel
Don't let it get to you
your achievements are greatly numbered
And the faults are very few
So if a certain person should act a certain way
Think of those who love you
And don't let it spoil your day
And Dance Like No One is Watching
We convince ourselves that life will be better when we are married, have a baby, then another.
Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough
and we will be more content when they are.
After that we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with.
We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage.
We tell ourselves that our life will be complete
when our spouse gets his or her act together,
when we get a nicer car,
are able to go on a nice vacation,
when we retire.
The truth is that there is no better time than now to be happy.
If not now, when?
Your life will always be filled with challenges.
It's best to admit this to your self and decide to be happy anyway.
Treasure every moment you have.
And treasure it more because you shared it with someone special,
special enough to spend your time. . .
and remember that time waits for no one.
So stop waiting until you finish school,
until you go back to school,
until you lose ten pounds,
until you gain ten pounds,
until you have kids,
until your kids leave your house,
until you start work,
until you retire,
until you get married,
until you get divorced,
until Friday night,
until Sunday morning,
until you get a new car or home,
until your new car or home is paid off,
until spring,
until fall,
until winter,
until summer,
until you are off welfare,
until the first or fifteenth,
until your song comes on,
until you have had a drink,
until you have sobered up,
until you die,
until you are born again
to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy.
Happiness is a journey, not a destination.
Work like you don't need money
Love like you have never been hurt
And dance like no one is watching
An Answer To Her Cry
She Listens to your problems.
She imputs her guiding words.
Her every word means eternity.
So you follow her blissful suggestions;
forgive then forget.
Your walk improves.
You emplore her with your gratitude.
She certianly aided this recovery.
Because of her,
your existence improves.
In actuality,
this is too much a perfect reality.
Man's greatest dream.
A disaster designed by our own hopes.
She helps and helps.
She cannot help herself.
The opportunity is there,
for her to take instead of give.
Giving is all she knows.
She NEEDS to take,
she cannot take.
The confusion grows and grows.
She always thinks:
soon it will pass,
nothing can last.
yet pass it won't;
the past won't remain in the past for her.
She knows others evils,
contrary to her own.
He hides inside her stone heart.
That she knows.
She knows not,
how to coerce him out.
Always shall he hide,
deep down inside.
She was present
in out hours of need.
Now its out turn,
to reciprocate that deed
and make God's loyality burn.
Burn into her being,
the answer she needs
to fight the demon.
The demon that consumes,
that destroys,
that annihilates
us all.
Only then will we prosper!
MY FIRST CHRISTMAS IN HEAVEN
I see the countless Christmas trees
around the world below,
with tiny lights, like Heaven's stars,
reflecting on the snow
The sight is so spectacular,
please wipe away the tear
for I am spending Christmas with
Jesus Christ this year
I hear the many Christmas songs
that people hold so dear
but the sounds of music can't compare
with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you,
the joy their voices bring,
for it is beyond description,
to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me,
I see the pain inside your heart.
But I am not so far away
we really aren't apart.
So be happy for me, dear ones,
you know I hold you dear.
And be glad I'm spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.
I sent you each a special gift,
from my heavenly home above.
I sent you each a memory
of my undying love.
After all, love is a gift more precious
than pure gold.
It was always most important
in the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other,
as my Father said to do.
For I can't count the blessing or love
He has for each of you.
So have a Merry Christmas and
wipe away that tear.
Remember, I am spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.
This poem was written by a 13 year old boy who died of a brain tumor that he had battled for four years. He died on December 14, 1997. He gave this to his mom before he died. His name was Ben.
My friend,
my companion,
through good times and bad
my friend,
my buddy,
through happy and sad,
beside me you stand,
beside me you walk,
you're there to listen,
you're there to talk,
with happiness,
with smiles,
with pain and tears,
I know you'll be there, throughout the years!
Footprints
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach
with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each
scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to
him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at
the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it
happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. "LORD, you
said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I
needed you most you would leave me."
The LORD replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and I would
never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see
only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.
"What Do Angels Look Like?"
Like the little old lady who returned
~ your wallet yesterday.
Like the taxi driver who told you that your eyes
~ light up the world, when you smile.
Like the small child who showed you
~ the wonder in simple things.
Like the poor man who offered to
~ share his lunch with you.
Like the rich man who showed you that it
~ really is all possible, if only you believe.
Like the stranger who just happened to come along,
~ when you had lost your way.
Like the friend who touched your heart,
~ when you didn't think you had one to touch.
Angels come in all sizes and shapes,
~ all ages and skin types.
Some with freckles, some with dimples,
~ some with wrinkles, some without.
They come disguised as friends, enemies,
~ teachers, students, lovers and fools.
They don't take life too seriously,
~ They travel light.
They leave no forwarding address,
~ They ask nothing in return.
They wear sneakers with gossamer wings,
~ They get a deal on dry cleaning.
They are hard to find when your eyes are
closed, but
They are everywhere you look,
~  when you choose to see.
The greatest pain in life
is not to die,
but to be ignored.
To lose the person you love so much
to another who doesn't care at all.
To have someone you care so about so much
throw a party...
and not tell you about it.
When your favorite person on earth
neglects to invite you to his graduation.
To have people think that you don't care.
The greatest pain in life,
is not to die,
but to be forgotten.
To be left in the dust after another's great achievement.
To never get a call from a friend,
just saying "hi".
When you show someone your innermost thoughts
and they laugh in your face.
For friends to always be
too busy to console you
when you need someone to lift your spirits.
When it seems like the only person who cares about you,
is you.
Life is full of pain,
but does it ever get better?
Will people ever care about each other,
and make time for those who are in need?
Each of us has a part to play
in this great show we call life.
Each of us has a duty to mankind
to tell our friends we love them.
If you do not care about your friends
you will not be punished.
You will simply be ignored...
forgotten...
as you have done to others.
This poem was written by a young girl that committed suicide in 1995. Perhaps if the people surrounding her had shown a little more love, and had paid more attention to her, her death could have been prevented. Remember that when going through life, you can't judge a sad, lonely, or suicidal person by their facial expression. You need to get to know each person you come in contact with, cherish your friendship with them, and show them that you care.
Friendship
I hold in in my hands
A box of gold,
With a secret inside
That has never been told.
The box is priceless
But as I see,
The treasure inside
Is far more precious to me.
Today I share
this treasure with thee,
It's the treasure of friendship
You've given to me!
