Answer to Atomic and Molecular Weights Exercise 4
Answer to Atomic and Molecular Weights Exercise 4
Find the percentage by mass of sulfur in H2SO4. Use the following atomic weights: H= 1.0 amu, S = 32.1 amu, O= 16.0 amu.
MW = 2(1.0 amu) + 1(32.1 amu) + 4(16.0 amu) = 98.1 amu
% by mass S = (32.1 amu)/(98.1 amu) x 100% = 32.7%
