Welcome to Dai Bouken's Fruits Basket Site
Fruits Basket, or Furuba, is currently my favorite shoujo manga and anime series. Created by Natsuki Takaya, the story follows the life of high school student Tooru Honda and the very unusual Souma family. Orphaned and homeless, Tooru is living in a tent in the woods when Shigure and Yuki Souma find her. They let her stay in their house in return for some housework, but as is the case with a lot of shoujo manga and anime, the Souma's are not your typical family. They have the ability turn into animals from the Japanese/Chinese zodiac when hugged by someone of the opposite sex! Both the manga and the anime focus on the Souma family and Tooru as they try to deal with life...and each other. And uh, did I mention that the Souma's are *completely* naked when they return to their human forms?!! (No, this series isn't hentai yo! ^^).

For the latest furuba news and info on any updates to this site, please continue to read. To navigate, click on the buttons in the frame to your left. And if you have time, PLEASE sign my guestbook? I'd really appreciate any feedback ^_^. Thank you for reading this intro and for visiting my humble little site on one of the best shoujo manga/anime out there: Fruits Basket!

Fruits Basket News
**May - I have very sad news to report today (5/11/04). Okazaki Ritsuko, the singer and songwriter of the Fruits Basket anime opening and ending theme songs ("For Fruitsbasket" and "Chiisana Inori") has died due to septic shock. Septic shock is a condition caused by a serious infection that involves the blood. Ms. Okazaki's obituary may be found at the following website in Japanese:

>> Yomiuri Shinbun - Okayumi Section <<

In addition to her great contributions to the music of Fruits Basket, Ms. Okazaki has also worked on such popular titles as Love Hina, UFO Princess Valkyrie, Princess Tutu, Sister Princess, Minky Momo, Wedding Peach and Stratos 4. She was a prolific artist whose work also appeared in news programs, dramatic (non anime) series, radio, commercials and video games. In her decade-long career, she has released seven popular albums and eight singles.

Ms. Okazaki has also collaborated with numerous artists as a songwriter and singer including Megumi Hayashibara, Iizuka Mayumi and Inoue Kikuko. She recently completed work on the music to the PC game, Symphonic Rain and recorded the opening theme to the new Jubei-chan 2 anime series. Just this past March, she released the debut album "Melodic Hard Cure" of the new unit she formed with Hinata Megumi, called Melocure. At the end of April, the album "Rakuen" that she arranged for Fruits Basket voice actress Horie Yui (Tooru) was released in Japan. Okazaki Ritsuko was only 44 at the time of her death.

**February - Volume #14 of the Japanese Fruits Basket manga will be available in Japan on April 19, 2004, ISBN 4-592-17884-X . Kureno is on the cover.

>> Hakusensha's Fruits Basket Eigo Ban Page <<

**September - Volume #13 of the Fruits Basket manga will be coming out in Japan on November 19, 2003. The ISBN number is 4-592-17883-1 for those of you that want to order it. Rin is on the cover this time!! Woo Hoo!

**Also coming out in November (approximately 11/14) is a bilingual Fruits Basket manga [ Eigo ban Fruits Basket ] from Hakusensha! According to s-book.com:

"Mega-hit Fruits Basket is coming out in English. Written in native, modern english and containing full and complete explanatory notes, you'll be able to read without using a dictionary. This book will help you improve your English while having fun. Coming out November 2003"

I imagine that this will probably resemble Kodansha's bilingual CardCaptor Sakura books, so if you want to read furuba while improving your Japanese, here's the ISBN number 4-592-73215-4

Site Updates
**November - I'm kind of holding off on updating the site. I was going to make a HUGE update, but due to, um, technical difficulties, I'm going to have to postpone it for just a *little* while longer... In the meantime, I've updated many of the existing sections of the site. The FAQ section was updated and changed a bit and the Characters section has some new stuff in it as well. That big update will happen soon, so in the meantime, here's a GIANT THANK YOU to everyone that still visits ^_^ !
**August 4 - New "How to make an Onigiri" section is up under "Special."
**July 21 - Once again, I kinda sorta updated the site ^_^; The "FAQ" page and my "Natsuki Takaya" section is up. I also re-did the "Images" section thanks to "Jae" who suggested in her guestbook entry that I make thumbnails of the entire image instead of just a portion of the image. There are four new additions to the fanart gallery and I also have four new wallpapers available for download! This time they feature Kisa and Rin ^__^ !

Thank you again for all the wonderful support! Special thanks goes to the people that have sent me all those supportive emails (I'm sorry I haven't responded yet ;_; ), contribute to the BBS and write in the guestbook! As always, if you'd like me to email you when I update again, please type in your email in the "MessageBot" box below. You'll have to enter your email again where it says "Verify." Mata au ne!
