Cha Cha, Riya (wolf-form ^^) and Shiine-chan!
Title: Akazukin Cha Cha
Author: Ayahana Min
Publisher: Ribon Comics, Shueisha
Volumes: 1 - 13 (finished)
Synopsis:
Akazukin Cha Cha is a hilarious manga by Ayahana Min. Akazukin means "red hood" in Japanese and Cha Cha is the name of one of the main characters (the blond girl with the pigtails). The manga follows the adventures of Cha Cha and her friends as she strives to become a bona fide Magician!
Review
: There are a lot of characters in this manga. Ayahana-sensei does a great job of giving each character enough depth to be important. The main characters, however, are the three kids you see in the pix on this page: Cha Cha (the very genki and clumsy heroine), Riya (the blue-haired baka werewolf) and Shiine-chan (the ear-cleaning, sleepwalking, paranoid about losing his hair magician-in -training. Of course a love triangle develops between these three, but it's not the main storyline. The manga itself is episodic (like American cartoons), with the only ongoing storylines being Cha Cha and Shiine-chan's journey to become better magicians and that "love triangle" I just mentioned. The best thing about this manga is the humor and the interaction between these characters and the others that populate Cha Cha's world. They include: Cha Cha's mentor, the "World's #1 Magician," Seravi-sensei and his "talking" doll (!) Elizabeth and Shiine-chan's mentor, Dorothy, who wears puffy dresses and HATES Seravi. With so many well-developed characters in this manga, you'll really feel as though the title "Akazukin Cha Cha" is a misnomer, since Cha Cha is definitely *not* the most interesting character in the bunch (hell she's like #30 on my list). I personally like Shine-chan (I always root for the underdog) and Seravi's dad who looks like a young girl but is really thousands of years old and turns in to a giant lizard when he's hungry!
Verdict: This manga is hands down the funniest manga I've ever read! The japanese is also very simple, so many readers will find it easy to understand.Check this manga and the very funny anime based on it out!
