NEWS

In the Zonal elections, All India Correspondence Chess Federation voted for WAJDI CHOUARI (TUN) for Zonal Director ICCF Zone 4 (Asia/Africa). However, it was Ole Jacobsen (GHA) who was elected. AICCF extends a warm welcome to Ole Jacobsen and wishes him all the best to continue the good work being done in organising activities in the Africa/Asia zone.

Len Goide was a keen ICCF player and for many years an official of one of BFCC's major member clubs. He was also a TD for World Cup XI Preliminaries, but died suddenly early in 1998 soon after the start of that tournament. We have received ICCF approval for a tournament in Len's memory, and India was invited to nominate an untitled player rated 2250-2399. The tournament will start on 15.3.2008 with 15 players, and will be played by server; there is no prize fund. Vaibhav Saxena has agreed to play in this tournament.

The ICCF Schools Webserver Competition got underway from 29th October 2007. There are two groups, under 12, and under 17. An Indian team from Dhanesh Srikhande’s school < dhanesh at chesstrainer.us > is participating.
