Bailey: "If you have any thoughts I'd like to hear them."
Bailey: "What?"
Sam: "There has been a lot of pressure on him. I mean he hasn't slept in three days, he's trying to run the office, he has the press all over him..."
Bailey: "I know how much you cared for him, Sam."
Sam: "I'm not holding back."
Bailey: "You're protecting him."
Sam: "I'm not protecting him, Bailey."
Bailey: "I understand being overwhelmed, Sam, but that's not what I'm seeing. He's not in control."
Sam: "Bailey, we have dozens of open cases..."
Bailey: "This is his only case and it's all for one. Three killings in ninety days. We're in the middle of a spree. What happened between you two is none of my business, what's happening here is. We were sent to do a job, now let's do it."
Sam: "I am doing my job. Excuse me."
Sam: "He's going through a hard time. Do you have to remind him how nowhere we are?"
Bailey: "Six victims, three are connected to the station and he misses it. Come on, Sam."
Bailey: "He's having an affair, Sam."
Sam: "He loves his wife."
Bailey: "That may be, but he's having an affair. He can't focus on a problem of this magnitude, because something big has got his attention."
Sam: "Oh, what, and that's automatically an affair?"
Bailey: "Not automatically. He spent the night drinking mineral water, and there's nothing in his bar except Jameson's he bought for me, so I ruled out booze. And I had George do a scan on his bank accounts."
Sam: "Bailey!"
Bailey: "There no unusual activity. So I doubt he's into the books. And when what's supposed to be a man's loving touch turns into a patronising pad on the head, I know what that means."
Sam: "Bailey, he's one of our own."
Bailey: "I did it because he is one of our own, because there is more at stake than his ego or your friendship. Sam."
Sam: "Yes, I'll drive."
Sam: "Sometimes I think the only way to do this job is not to care."
Bailey: "You don't believe that."
