Today’s technology offers the opportunity to economize and reorganize existing communications assets in new ways. For example, space-based, non-line-of-sight, secure communications and GPS systems provide responsive world-wide friendly force tracking and limited messaging capabilities. These enable dispersed command and control, maneuver/strike operations and focused logistics. Space-based assets will continue to offer opportunities to improve and enhance operational capabilities in future warfighting.
Organizations like the one depicted above can be formed from existing Army and other joint assets and positioned in the regional unified commands to enhance and support strategic responsiveness.
