DESCRIPTION Evergreen reaches up to about 400' high. Trunk is twisted, with silver-gray bark. Mature leaves are bluish green and have a tough, leathery texture. Glands containing volatile oil are on the leaf surface. .... wood per hectare; the foliage, mechanically removed, is worth $150 per ton as a high-nitrogen animal feed As for hardwoods, a plantation of eucalyptus can generate 10 times as much sustainable harvest as can a patch of virgin forest, but it costs $1,000 per hectare to establish.
