PREPERATIONS AND DOSAGES
Alcohol extracts the medicinal properties of anise
are more effective than water infusions.

Use one teaspoon crushed seed
to one half to one cup boiling water.
Steep ten minutes and strain.
Take one to one and a half cups during the day.
A mouthful at a time.

Decoction
For colic; boil 1 tablespoon seed in one half pint milk
for 10 minutes; strain and drink hot.

Tincture
To prepare; Add two ounce seed to one half quart brandy.
Add some clean lemon peels and let stand in a sunny place
for 20 days, then strain. Take 1 teaspoon at a time.

Anise Water
Boil 1/2 teaspoon seed in half pint of water, then strain.

For Insomnia;
Take a few seeds in a glass of milk before going to bed.

Tea made from equal parts of anise,
caraway and fennel is an excellent intestinal purifier.

Because of its sweetness, anise is a good additive
to improve flavor of other medicines.
