No Room In The Inn

This is the story of the birth of my savior Jesus Christ as recorded in the Bible. All passages are taken from the Contemporary English version of the Bible, from the book of Luke, chapters 1 & 2. I hope you enjoy the story as much as I do. God bless! ~:o)

"...God sent the angel Gabriel to the town of Nazareth in Galilee with a message for a virgin anmed Mary. She was engaged to Joseph from the family of King David. The angel greeted Mary and said, 'You are truly blessed! The Lord is with you.' Mary was confused by the angels words and wondered what they meant. Then the angel told Mary, 'Do not be afraid! God is pleased with you, and you will have a son. His name will be Jesus. He will be great and will be called the son of God Most High. The Lord God will make him king, as his ancestor David was. He will rule the people of Isreal forever and his kingdom will never end.'"

Mary was confused because she was not yet married but the angel explained that the Spirit of God himself would "come down on" her and that "nothing is impossible for God! Mary said, 'I am the Lord's servant! Let it happen as you have said."
When it was nearing time for Mary to give birth, she and Joseph had to travel to Bethlehem in Judea because Emperor Augustus had ordered a census be taken of the all the people. "...While they were there, (Mary) gave birth to her first-born son. She dressed him in baby clothes and laid him on a bed of hay, because there was no room for them in the inn.

That night in the fields near Bethlehem some shepherds were guarding thier sheep. All at once an angel came down to them from the Lord, and the brightness of the Lord's glory flashed around them. The shepherds were frightened. But the angel said, 'Don't be afraid! I have good news for you, which will make evryone happy. This very day in King Davids home town a Savior was born for you. He is Christ the Lord...You will find him dressed in baby clothes and lying on a bed of hay. Suddenly many other angels came down from Heaven and joined in praising God. They said: 'Praise God in heaven! Peace on earth to everyone who pleases God.'" The shepherds went and saw Jesus and found everything as the angel said it would be. What an honor it must have been to be able to see God encarnate in the form of a little baby. Mary, Joseph, and those she[herds received a wonderous blessing that night that "would be for all mankind".

If you were to stand before God right now and He asked you, "Why should I let you into my heaven?", what would you say? As you read this story, do you know for certain that you will someday go to Heaven? If you answered no to that question, please go to the page that explains my faith. It explains, in what I hope are simple terms, what the Bible says about how to get to heaven. There is only one way and I hope you will not leave here without being positive that you will be there someday. The alternative is not a pleasant one. God bless you as you go on your way.
