Oh, no! My shota tendencies rear their ugly head again! Yes, I have fallen hard for this young, young (11, folks) star of the fabulous and underrated series Mamotte Shugogetten. Tasuke is as harried as Keiichi (Oh! My Goddess) or Tenchi (Tenchi Muyo) with three girls (two with supernatural powers) after his heart...and more. But there's one simple difference. Tasuke's youth gives him an innocence that melts my heart. He doesn't fall victim to sexy Ruuan's advances for he's simply too young to understand her double entendres. He is sweet and kind, and truly cares about the girls in his life.

Tasuke spent his life alone. His father, an archeologist, and sister are always away in other countries, so Tasuke lives by himself. This means a lack of homecooked meals and loving care. He has close friends, but he stills feels an ever-present lonliness. That is, until Shao-sama comes into his life. Sweeter than Keiichi and Belldandy, they have the makings of a perfect couple.

You see, unlike the Oh! My Goddess couple, Tasuke is less neurotic and cooler than hapless Keiichi, and Shao-sama is less Kasumi-perfect and more genuine than Belldandy. The TV series allows more relationship growth than the short OMG OAV series, and it makes a huge difference. I really feel like Tasuke and Shao-sama are falling for each other, and not just because he's her master. And I'm actually not jealous! Maybe it's because I find Tasuke adorable, not sexy or arousing. Though, there is one thing that hits all my hot spots...

Ever see the opening to Shugogetten? Oh, my. You must. The song is exceptionably groove-able, the artwork is perfect, all of the relationships are clearly set up, and...and...Tasuke SINGS! He sings the chorus like an idol singer, hand motions and everything! It's to die for. I've never seen anything like it. The first time I saw it, I was in love. Tasuke defines adorable, no matter how old he may be.
