Frieza is an idiot, he thought that Goku was weak and that the Super Saiyan legend was just a lie. He wanted to play around but when Goku became Super Saiyan there was nothing he could do. Frieza was on Namek when it exploded. Frieza's henchmen found his messed up body and repaired it. Then Trunks came and killed him
