1982 1st May : Debut single "Slow Motion" released. The highest Oricon Single Chart position was 30. 5th May : Mini Concert held at Toshimaen, Tokyo. This was Akina's first public appearance after debut on 1 May. In spite of heavy rain, the show was carried on. 1st July : Akina's first album "Prologue" released and the highest position was number 7. 28th July : Her second single "Shojo A" released. It was nearly banned because of its suggestive lyrics. This single reached number 5 on the chart and it was Akina's first top 10 single. Akina became popular. 10th August : Akina held her First Concert ~ "Akina ni Attara Doki" at Nakano Sun Plaza Hall in Tokyo. 10th November : Akina's third single "Second Love" released. Akina's first number one single. It topped the Oricon Single Chart for 6 weeks. Akina was one of the most popular idols at that time.

High Point

1983 ~ 1988 Akina was the most popular and top female singer in Japan in these years. She won a lot of awards and prizes. The most important awards she got were the Grand Prix of Japan Record Award in 1985 and 1986. She broke the record because she was the youngest singer to win the Grand Prix in the Japan Music History at that time. Akina started dominating record sales throughout most of the 1980s. She was the best-selling singer in 1983, 1985, 1986 and 1987 in Japan. There were few artists in the 1980s who achieved what Akina did in her career. She was much more than a singer. She was a performer of the very finest ability, her abilities gradually become more and more apparent as her career progresses. Her name and face were probably the most widely known in Japan and some Asian countries. Akina and Matchy were lovers during this period. Akina's weigh dropped because of their relationship was getting worse and worse in 1987 to 1989.

1989

Akina only released one single before she attempted suicide on 11th July at her lover's apartment. She was discovered by Matchy and he called the ambulance. She was lucky to be alive. She "retired" for few months afterwards. Akina and Matchy held a press conference on 31st December. Akina apologized for her silly action and causing unnecessary worry to everyone. Her suicide attempt was to try to win Matchy back but she failed.

1990 ~ Present

1990 Akina got tan in Hawaii ( 9 May - 17 May ) to promote her song. Akina made her comeback on 17th July with her new single "Dear Friend". It sold 150,000 in its first week of sales and topped Oricon Single Chart for 2 weeks. Akina regained her former glory and popularity at that time. 1991 Akina's last single "Futari Shizuka" released by Warner-Pioneer. Akina worked for Warner-Pioneer from 1982 to 1991. 1992 Akina filmed her first TV drama series "SUGAO NO MAMADE ( Just The Way We Were )" from 13th April to 29th June. It got a high viewing rate. 1993 - 1997 Akina worked for her second record company "MCA Victor" during this period. Akina was not as popular as she used to be in 1980s in this period. In order to regain the popularity, Testuya Komuro wrote her a song in 1996. It was "MOONLIGHT SHADOW ~ TSUKINIHOERO" which was released on 7th August, 1996. Unfortunately, it reached 14 on the Oricon Single Chart. 1998 - 1999 Akina sang for her third record company "Gauss Enterainment". The first single released was "Keisei ~ Never Forget". It was a theme song of TV drama series "Tsumetai Tsuki". Akina starred in as well. Akina released 5 singles and 2 albums during this period. 2000 ~ Present Akina do not have any singer contract now. She helds her concerts and Christmas Dinner Show. Her present production house is Raku Music Productions. Her present fanclub is Faithway. She will hold her 20th anniversay concert this summer. The theme of this summer concert tour is "All About Akina ~ Hana & Poison".
