ABS-CBN TALENTS DOMINATE PARANGAL NG BAYAN AWARDS

ABS-CBN Talent Center reaffirms its dominance in star-building and management as five of its prime talents were named top entertainers in the country in the recent Parangal ng Bayan (or the Annual People's Choice Award) held recently at the Kalayaan Hall, Malacanang Palace.

Rico Yan and Marvin Agustin were chosen Best Young Male Performers while Claudine Barretto took home the Best Young Female Performer award. Child stars Serena Dalyrmple and Shaina Magdayao were awarded the Best Child Performer awards.

Rico, a popular teen actor and a commercial model was also noted for being an outstanding student. DECS recently chose him to be their spokesperson for the youth. He has also received citations from different award-giving bodies in the country and is a mainstay of the popular soap opera Mula Sa Puso.

Marvin, on the other hand is considered a versatile actor having portrayed different roles in movies and television. As a regular of Esperanza and the mini-series SSKMA, he was nominated in a number of entertainment award-giving bodies such as Star Awards for Television and FAMAS for his exceptional performance on screen.

Claudine, is considered one of the most admired young actresses in the Philippine movie industry. She topbills the soap opera Mula Sa Puso and has appeared in a number of box-office hit movies such as Madrasta, DMNMK, and MSP the Movie.

Cited as the Child Wonder of the 90s, Serena started in the business as a model for a fastfood chain commercial She is now one of the most admired figures in Philippine show business. She is a mainstay of Marinella and RLL.

Shaina, on the other hand is the 1996 Star Awards New Movie Personality awardee and since then, sh e has been noted for her exceptional talent and charm. She is a regular of Kaybol and Marinella.

The Parangal ng Bayan is the country's biggest tribute event honoring outstanding Filipino national and world-class achievers from various fields commemorating the National Achievers Month every March.
