by: Super Teen Movie Magazine 03/31/99

After proving his acting mettle in Star Cinema comedies like the smash hits Labs Kita Okay Ka Lang? and Kung Ayaw Mo, Huwag Mo, the November thriller masterpiece Magandang Hatinggabi, and perhaps in his most emotional endeavor to date - as the fiery Ruben in Channel 2's miniseries Sa Sandaling Kailangan Mo Ako, directed by Olive Lamasan, Marvin Agustin has shown that although 1998 was a tough, tough year, he went through it with versatility, hard work, dedication and focus.

And despite an overwhelming work schedule and everything else that came with it, Marvin is happy and grateful. In fact, he has always shown his gratitude to his fans and because of this closeness to his supporters, people have started naming Marvin as the "People's Heartthrob."

For 1999, Marvin Agustin sees even a brighter year. He is grateful for winning the New Male Actor of the Year for Star Awards and the Guillermo Award for Most Promising Actor and being nominated for Best Actor in a Single Performance for MMK's Karne and the Film Academy of the Philippines' Best Supporting Actor for his role in Ipaglaban Mo, the Movie. Furthermore, he will soon be shooting and promoting his movie with Jolina Magdangal dubbed as Hey Babe. Marvin also sees himself getting involved in an Anti-Drug campaign. He also plans to study scriptwriting and film directing to fulfill a lifelong dream. And in between all these, he still can be seen evolving in his dramatic portrayal in Esperanza and his hosting on ASAP on Sundays and Magandang Tanghali Bayan every Monday with Jolina. Marvin is also cast in the film predicted to be the year's movie event of the youth: Gimik the Reunion. He was also awarded the 1999 Parangal ng Bayan for Best Young Dramatic Actor.

With his honest hardwork, Marvin Agustin remains a commited artist and a true professional. A Star Circle discovery who has definitely made good and has come a long, long way.
