you should own

Three Pieces for Orchestra, Op. 6
Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic in an explosive and sumptuous recording.

Wozzeck
Difficult to find, but much better than any other recording of this opera. Mono sound, flaws in singing, but beautiful and terrifying as Wozzeck should be.

Chamber Concerto
Again difficult to obtain, but well worth the trouble. Look elsewhere than amazon.com.

Der Wein
Very, very beautiful.

Violin Concerto
This you must get! Webern conducting the second ever performance of the work, with Krasner, the violinist who commissioned the work, at the violin.

Lulu
Justly famous - flawed, but the only recording of this opera that counts.
Louis Krasner, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Anton Webern
Anne-Sofie von Otter, Bengt Forsberg

Seven Early Songs
Anne-Sofie von Otter makes these merely competent songs into masterpieces.

Piano Sonata, Op. 1
Chosen for it's bargain price and excellent recommendation from Gramophone. Also on the CD is piano music by Schoenberg and Webern.

Four Songs, Op. 2
Also includes the 7 Early Songs, both Schliesse mir die Augen beide, and Jugendlieder by Berg.

String Quartet, Op. 3
Lyric Suite

Just amazing. Great interpretations, audiophile sound.

Altenberg Lieder, Op. 4
Not as good as Margaret Price with Abbado (amazon B000001GWZ), but still excellent.
